On Ted Lasso, and the single best review of anything I’ve ever read

Y’all, the purpose of this blog was never meant to just point you to other people’s writing (like my last post did), but sometimes, other writers just insist on posting things that need to be read by more people.

My wife and I have absolutely adored the series Ted Lasso. It’s been appointment television for us for three years now, and I honestly feel that it’s not just funny . . . it’s important. I was thinking to write something about it in honor of the (apparent) final episode airing this week, but the always brilliant Laurie Penny has already written everything I’d want to say and more, and and she did it much better than I ever could.

The simple truth is, Laurie Penny has had very different life experiences than I have (that’s true of most, if not all, people, but still) and she sees things in Ted Lasso that I likely would have missed. The viewpoints of other people make us richer. With that in mind, I urge you to take a look at what she has to say about Ted Lasso.

By the way, her take on Disney’s Encanto is pretty terrific as well, as is her deeply insightful and timely book.
